Trauma-based approaches in therapy are specifically designed to address the impact of trauma on an individual's mental and emotional well-being. These approaches recognise that trauma can have long-lasting effects and aim to facilitate healing and recovery. Some key features of trauma-based approaches include:

  • Safety and Trust: Creating a safe and trusting therapeutic environment is paramount. Clients are encouraged to feel secure and supported as they explore their traumatic experiences.

  • Trauma-Informed Care: I am trained to understand the effects of trauma and has experience of how it can manifest in various ways. This knowledge informs the treatment approach.

  • Emotional Regulation: Clients learn techniques to regulate overwhelming emotions that often accompany trauma, such as anxiety and flashbacks.

  • Processing Traumatic Memories: These approaches often involve strategies for processing and integrating traumatic memories in a way that reduces their emotional charge.
